Outreach at Pregnancy Aid of Tacoma
Offers help to women who are pregnant.Helps with maternity clothes. Will supply baby items 2-3 weeks before the due date. Baby item may include car-seats, layettes, strollers, tubs, baby furniture, diapers, formula etc., depending on the donations.Also has a small clothing bank for older children (up to about 5) in the home, and a small food bank (includes baby food). Assistance is provided once every two months until the youngest child is 5 years old.
Infant Case Management (ICM)
The purpose of ICM is to improve the welfare of infants by providing their parents with information and assistance to access medical, social, educational, and environmental services.
Families that meet criteria for ICM will be offered services focused on referrals and linkage to community resources.
For the purposes of ICM, a parent is any person who resides with an infant, provides the infant’s day-to-day care, and is one or more of the following:
• The infant’s natural or adoptive parent
• A person other than a foster parent who has been granted legal custody of the infant
• A person who is legally obligated to support the infant
Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP)
The Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) is a research-based, nationally recognized intensive case management home visitation program for pregnant and parenting women experiencing substance use disorders.
PCAP’s primary aims are to assist mothers in obtaining alcohol, drug, and mental health treatment; to help assure that children are in safe, stable home environments and receiving appropriate health care; to link mothers to community resources that will help them build and maintain healthy, independent family lives; and to prevent future births of children exposed prenatally to alcohol and drugs.

Parents as Teachers promotes the optimal early development, learning and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers. The Parents as Teachers approach is to partner, facilitate and reflect. We do this at every level of our organization, from a parent educator visiting a family in their home, all the way to the work of the national center.
