Pierce County Meal Sites provides a list of sites that will provide hot meals for low-income families, seniors and those effected by homelessness.

Please note that some of these do have a cost, but there are a handful of sites that are free for low-income/homeless.

Senior Farmers Market Program

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides fresh fruit and vegetables to lower-income seniors with the goal of improving their health and nutritional status. It also supports local farming by increasing the use of farmers markets and roadside stands. To be eligible to receive a voucher, You must be 60 years old or older (or 55+ if you are Native American /Alaska Native), Your income must be below 185% of Federal Poverty Level and you must be a resident of Pierce County,

Nourish Pierce County

Nourish emphasizes nutritious food and helping clients to learn how to cook healthy meals, so that people are empowered to make healthy choices, regardless of whether they continue to receive their food from a food bank. Nourish also helps clients move to a more stable future by providing information on housing, medical support, government subsidies, and community resources. Residents of Pierce County can visit one of the many Nourish food banks and walk away with food to feed their families and an opportunity for a better life.

Food is Free Tacoma

At Food is Free Tacoma their mission is to build community through food security. They have a 3 pronged approach to address food insecurity in Tacoma:
* a gardening program
* food rescue
* gleaning program

They advocate for just and equitable food systems in the local community as well as the surrounding areas.

Emergency Food Network

The Emergency Food Network provides healthy, nutritious food to 75+ partners in Pierce County.

If you are in need of food, you can visit any of the food pantries in their network. If you have barriers that make it difficult to access these pantries, you may be able to take atvantage of their Home Delivery services.

Eloise’s Cooking Pot

Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank provides quality food to the communities of East and South Tacoma, Washington.

Along with an onsite food bank, ECP serves the elderly and residents with disabilities by providing home delivery of food and pet supplies to 500 home-bound clients. Many clients have special dietary restrictions and deliveries are customized to meet individualized client needs.

Any one is welcome to come in for resources. They have a clothing bank, food pantry, and many other partners each day. You can reach them via email. 

There is a security screening upon entry, but they do NOT check warrants there.

Coordinated Care Harvest Bucks

The fruit and vegetable prescription program is a new benefit offered by Coordinated Care to members who want to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in their meals, want to try new fruits and vegetables, or are experiencing food insecurity. Coordinated Care is partnering with the Washington State Department of Health and Safeway to offer this new benefit to members.

Metro Parks Free Summer Playground & Lunch Program

When school’s out, parks are in! Metro Parks' Playground and Lunch Program provides free lunch to all youth under 18 years of age Monday-Friday.

In addition, activities and games are led by staff at all sites (except Titlow and Wapato) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Lunch is served from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

The Pet Food Pantry

The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County’s Pet Food Pantry supplies pet food to those who are in temporary need of dog or cat food. In order to receive pet food, you must provide identification and proof that your pets are spayed or neutered. If your pets are not altered, you will be given food for the first visit (up to a months’ worth) and you will need to show proof at the next visit to be eligible.
